First Real
Snow In Duluth - 2005
It finally dumped on us, but it was still
less than a foot. Pretty wimpy compared to what they just
got out West the last two weeks. The strange thing is that
the City of Duluth plow crew is on some sort of de-facto
strike, or more accurately in a protest over something.
Hardly any streets got plowed today, and my street still
isn't plowed (8:00 AM, January 13: which is 28+ hours after
the snow started). I heard reports on the radio earlier
that City of Duluth plows were out driving around with their
blades up. Hmm. As Isaac Asimov said in his Foundation
Series, "The cracks in the Empire are showing."

Here is a "flash"
photo, showing how static and 2-dimensional it looks. |
Here is a "warm"
flash photo at 1/60th of a second, with an ISO of
800 and some "warmth" in the photo to make
it more realistic... |

(Above) For those of you
who have seen photos of "Orbs" as they
call them, here they are. Look here...a digital
camera catches snow, rain and even fog as out-of-focus
"orbs". It is nothing more than that,
despite some really
weird claims.
(Left) is a closeup of one
of the "orbs," otherwise known as a snowflake.
(Below) is another closeup of several of
these "orbs." They are just snow, and
not angels or ghosts or beings from a different
dimension or anything.
