I
had heard about this range for years, but never knew
where it was. It is free to shoot here, but
donations are accepted and you are a dick if you
don't drop a dollar or three into the offering
bucket for what you are getting. It is a really nice
place. They provide targets for you for free, and
check to see if they are all shot up and replace
them from what I could see. They even provide
hearing protection muffs and spotting scopes if you
need them. Free. I talked to a co-worker who has
been here the last two years in the 2-week period
before Minnesota and Wisconsin deer openers to sight
in his rifle, and he said there are hardly any
shooters even then. Since it is only 8.9 miles from
my office at AMSOIL headquarters, I will be here
every Monday and Wednesday with my sandwich for
lunch from now on. On my first day, I burned through
200 rounds of 115-gr. Winchester 9mm with my Beretta
92FS pistol in less than 20 minutes and had to head
back to work. Note to self: load more mags with ammo
in the comfort of home instead of fighting chilled
fingers on the range.
