Tettagouche State Park - 2002
Lorna and I did a major 12-mile roundtrip
hike through the park in 2002. At one point we got lost
at the far western side of the park, about 5 miles from
camp. You can't really get that lost in the park, but
when we realized we were not where we were supposed
to be on the map, a MASSIVE thunderstorm was moving
in. And we had her little dog, Honey, with us, to boot.
We oriented ourselves through landmarks and I picked
out a different course home that was as direct as possible,
but forced us to take a "less than scenic"
route. It rained about 4 inches in an hour, and we were
walking in chest-deep grass along a snowmobile trail
for the last three miles. It sucked pretty mightily.
This photo is at camp not too long after we made it
back. Note the dog tucked under the picnic table at
the campground. |
